MORE OPEN-AIR QUEEN! Already set to perform at Wembley Stadium in the early summer, Queen are also planning a major open-air concert in the north of England. NME understands that the intended venue is Manchester City's football ground (Maine Road), and that licence application has already been made. The show is expected to take place within a few days of the Wembley event, and the band may also play a third outdoor concert in Scotland. Reverting to Queen's Wembley appearance, which could now be as early as 14 June with Frank Bruno no longer fighting there on that date, it's likely that Go West will be among the guest acts - and another hot tip is Status Quo, just re-formed by Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, after winning court permission to retain the name.
