BOOTS ARE ON THE LEVEL!

WHILST LOOKING through the records in Boots (Aberdeen) I was staggered when I saw the price of 'Quo' and 'On The Level' by Status Quo. Both were retailing for the incredible price of £3.10.

Also 'Pile Driver' and 'Hello' were £2.90 and most of the stores sell them all at £2.75 (some less).

I do not see how it can be legal for Boots to charge this rate for single albums. They were also selling 'Lindisfarne Live' and 'Genesis Live' for £l2.25 instead of the usual price of £1.99. I have noticed several other instances of this nature in Boots in the past.

I do not see why Boots should be able to charge these prices when smaller record shops sell at lower rates and don't make so much profit. - T. Morgan, Aberdeen.

However unjust it may seem to you. Boots are simply selling at the recommended retail price. It is true that the recent price increase affected catalogue prices as well as new album prices so what you thought of as "the usual price" has, in fact, gone up. Certainly, some shops may offer these particular albums at less than Boots but according to one of their record buyers Boots usually do offer albums at special offer prices as well as the recommended retail ones.

It seems that in these inflationary times, we're going to be forced to shop around for everything on special offers.
