ESSEX IN AWARDS SHOW

DAVID ESSEX tops the bill in the second special one-off concert, organised by the Daily Mirror Pop Club in connection with their recent poll awards.

It takes place at Stafford Bingley Hall on Saturday, January 8 — the day before the Mirror's concert by Status Quo at the same venue, announced last week.

John Miles and the Real Thing are also featured on the Essex bill which, as with Quo's gig, is being promoted for the Mirror by Maurice Kinn. Luxembourg disc-jockeys Tony Prince and Peter Powell will be the joint comperes.

Special seating is being installed at the venue for this event, and tickets are priced at £3.50, £2.50 and £2. (The Ouo gig is unseated with all tickets at £3.50). They may be obtained from the box-office, from many Virgin Records shops throughout the country. and from various other outlets — A full list of which appeared in NME's announcement of the Ouo concert last week. Bookings may also be made by post (see the Daily Mirror for details).

A special coach service is being laid on to the Essex and Quo concerts from London and various provincial cities. Full details of facilities available will be provided by the appropriate booking agency at the time of ticket purchase.

As with the Quo concert, the Essex show is to be filmed by ATV for subsequent screening in the Midlands area. It is possible that other ITV regions may also decide to transmit it.
