16 STATUS QUO: 'Live In Concert At The NEC Birmingham' (Polygram, £22.95)

QUITE WHY this video — a recording of Quo's 20th anniversary 'celebration' in the presence of HRH Big Ears — is in the shops is a bit of a mystery to me since I'd have thought anyone daft enough to want 80 minutes of visual SQ would have recorded it off the telly programme. But here it is and suffer I must. Actually, visual is a most inappropriate word; if ever a band should've steered clear Of VCR market then this is the one, as viewing Rossi and co stomp through their tedious stageshow (and their even more predictable music) is about as stimulating as watching Bushell's beard grow. Nevertheless, ol' Charlie appeared to enjoy it — but then, I guess anything's better than visiting another biscuit factory.
