Quo gig: facts

WITH REFERENCE to your report on the Status Quo concert at Bristol on February 28, I would like to point out a few facts:—

The event was Bristol University's annual Rag Ball and the ticket price was E6.50 for two people.

This ticket pnce was fixed prior to Status Quo accepting the engagement.

Last year the price for a double ticket was £5.50.

Bristol University approached us in the first place with an ofTer that we did not refuse.

For the fee that Bristol University offered us Quarry Productions presented three acts, namely, Status Quo, Snafu and Jackie Lynton's Grande.

The two supporting acts that we presented were paid out of the lump sum that we received from the University.

Three other acts also appeared on the bill, making a total of six acts, including Status Quo for £6.50.

We would like to make it clear to SOUNDS readers that the profit that Bristol University made by charging that ticket price was split between the six bands and that although, as headliners, Status Quo received the largest percentage of this profit, in no way was the ticket price determined by Status Quo's appearance.

Your article made it appear that Status Quo were taking unfair advantage of the occasion and we feel that the information concerning the economics of this occasion was completely wrong, in our opinion the gross fee received by Status Quo, including the two other acts was very fair and we gather that the University is completely satisfied with the response to their Rag Ball.
