Quo facing a ban

STATUS Quo face a lifetime ban on performing concerts in Britain after ignoring a United Nations ruling not to appear in South Africa.

The foolish group accepted an invitation to play four sell-out shows earlier this month in Sun City, the notorious South African entertainment complex in the satellite state of Bophuthaswana.

A Quo spokesman says: "The group were satisfied that progress has been made towards equality for blacks in Sun City before they decided to appear and they don't believe in sanctions.

"They bought a minibus for a local children's charity out of their earnings and will be donating all the royalties from the sale of their records in South Africa to a home for mentally handicapped children.

Last night the Anti-Apartheid Movement in Britain said: "We've put their name on the blacklist, which makes it almost impossible for them to give concerts in Britain, Europe, Scandinavia and America in future.
