Status Quo to storm Cardiff Castle

STATUS QUO headline an open-air concert at Cardiff Castle next month. The show comes only a month after the failure of last Saturday's Cardiff Festival, when only three thousand people saw Bob Marley And The Wailers topping the bill. Quo play on July 24. It will be a charity concert in aid of the Lord Pontypridd Bequest and proceeds will go to maintaining the upkeep of the Castle. The show runs from 2.30 to 10 pm and there will be four other bands on the bill although, at press time, no announcement about the support groups had been made.

This will be the first time Quo have played in Britain since their Spring tour. A spokesman told the MM this week that the Cardiff Castle concert is likely to be their last appearance in this country until next year. It is the second time the Castle has been used for a rock show - last year 10cc played a highly successful concert in Cardiff. Tickets, all costing £3.50, are available through postal application to Status Quo Concert, Cardiff Castle, P.O. Box 10, Cardiff, Wales. Tickets, priced at £4, will also be available on the day.
