Quo quit touring

STATUS QUO are to quit touring after a massive 22 years together... but not until they've played their biggest tour ever, in the spring.

The band - who've had a top 20 hit every year since 1973 - will keep recording together. Their last single 'Marguerita Time' hit number three in the charts and is their 34th release.

"We feel that everything has to come to an end some time, and this seems like the right time for us," said Francis Rossi last week.

"It's going to be quite strange and we do feel quite sad about it, but we all wanted to go out on a high."

Quo have called their last outing the End of the Road Tour and it includes 35 dates.

They start in Ireland at Dublin RDS on April 11 and 12. Then Cork City Hall 13, Limerick Savoy 15, Belfast Mayfield Leisure Centre 16 and 17 and Galway Leisure Land 18.

The British dates run Birmingham NEC May 26, Ipswich Gaumont 28 and 29, Manchester Apollo 30 and 31, Deeside Leisure Centre June 1, Leicester De Montfort Hall 5 and 6, Stoke Trentham Gardens 7 and 8, Newcastle City Hall 9 and 10, Glasgow Apollo 12 and 13, Edinburgh Playhouse 14, Aberdeen Capital 15, Dundee Caird Hall, 16, Blackpool Opera House 18 Bridlington Spa- venue to be confirmed 19 and 20, London Hammersmith Odeon 24 to 30, Oxford Apollo July 2 and 3, Shepton Mallet Showering Pavilion 4, St Austell Cornwall Coliseum 6 and 7, Poole Arts Centre 8 and Southampton Gaumont 9 and 10.

HOW TO BOOK. ALL tickets go on sale this weekend (February 18) and are available from the usual outlets and box office except for five dates which are by personal application only. They are the shows at Birmingham, Deeside, Stoke and Shepton Mallet.

For those concerts all tickets are £7.50. Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to F.T.M.O. and sent to Quarry Productions, PO Box 290, London SW1 V2DQ and enclosed with a SAE.

Ticket prices for the other shows are either £7.50 only or £7.50 and £6.50.

There is still no news about Quo's recording plans. But an album and a follow-up to 'Marguerita Time' should be out to coincide with the dates.
